Toward Revolutionary Humanism offers just such a vision. Drawing on the work of leading scholars and activists, this book argues that the only way to achieve true human liberation is through a radical transformation of our current social and economic system.
The authors of Toward Revolutionary Humanism contend that the root cause of our current social problems is the capitalist system, which is based on the exploitation of the working class. Under capitalism, the vast majority of people are forced to sell their labor for a wage, while a small minority of capitalists reap the profits of their labor. This system creates a deep divide between the rich and the poor, and it leads to a host of social problems, including poverty, inequality, racism, sexism, and environmental degradation.
Toward Revolutionary Humanism argues that the only way to overcome these problems is to overthrow the capitalist system and replace it with a socialist system. Socialism is a system in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the working class. Under socialism, everyone would have access to the resources they need to live a fulfilling life, and the profits of labor would be shared equally among all members of society.
The authors of Toward Revolutionary Humanism recognize that the transition to socialism will not be easy. It will require a mass movement of working people who are willing to fight for their liberation. However, they believe that the stakes are too high to give up. The future of humanity depends on our ability to create a more just and equitable world, and Toward Revolutionary Humanism offers a roadmap for how we can get there.
